This is not the emergency services

Drone Search and Rescue is a private drone operator. It assists a search alongside 999, the police and HM Coastguard where it is useful to do so, and it is never a substitute for calling 999 or for a police or coastguard response. Nothing on this site should be read as claiming an official search and rescue role, an accreditation from the emergency services, or any affiliation with them.

Using this website

The pages here describe a service and set out general information about search terrain in the South West. They are not a promise of any particular outcome. Nothing on the site forms a contract until a flight is agreed by phone.

Prices are quoted per job once we know the area and what is involved. Any figure discussed before the area is known is an estimate, not a quotation.

What a flight covers

A flight covers the ground that can be seen from the air on the day, in the weather and light conditions on that day, using a visual camera, a thermal camera, or both depending on what the light allows. Dense tree canopy, deep cover, water and anywhere obscured from directly above cannot be assessed from the air.

No outcome is promised or implied. The service provides aerial coverage of ground and reports what is seen; it does not guarantee that a missing person or animal will be located, and no claim to the contrary is made anywhere on this site.

Access and safety

Flights are carried out under the Civil Aviation Authority rules that apply to the operation, and to the operator's own assessment of the site on the day, including any police or coastguard operation already under way. If conditions make a safe flight impossible, that is said plainly and the flight does not go ahead.

Wind, rain, poor light and airspace restrictions can all stop a flight. This is treated as normal, not as a failure of the service.

Booking, payment and cancellation

A flight is booked for an agreed time, often the same day, at a fixed price for the area and work described. If what is found on arrival is materially different from what was described, the price is re-agreed before flying continues.

Cancelling with reasonable notice costs nothing. A wasted visit, where access is not available or the situation is not as described, may be charged.

Copyright

Footage and imagery produced for you are yours to use for the purpose they were commissioned for, including sharing with the police, a search coordinator, a landowner or an event organiser. Copyright in the imagery remains with the operator.

Insurance and liability

Commercial operations are insured with Coverdrone. A copy of the certificate is available on request.

Liability is limited to the fee paid for the flight, except where the law does not allow that limit.
